Notice of Race
ORGANIZING AUTHORITY & HOST CLUB:
The organizing authority is the Surf City Yacht Club
The current Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the prescriptions of US Sailing, CCYRA Rules, this Notice of Race, and the Sailing Instructions shall be in effect. In case of conflict between the Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions, the Sailing Instructions shall prevail.
The Surf City YC will be seeking certification from “Sailors for the Sea” as a “green” regatta. Some of the Best Practices include the elimination of single use water bottles and printed regatta documents.
Competitor advertising will be restricted to current ISAF Regulation 20 and CCYRA rules.
The regatta is open to members in good standing of the Comet Class Yacht Racing Association.
Competitors may register in advance by completing the on-line registration available on the Surf City YC’s website or by printing out the entry form and mailing together with a check (payable to SCYC) to SCYC, PO Box 236, Ship Bottom, NJ 08008. The Entry Fee is $150 if paid on-line or postmarked June 1, 2019 or earlier. After June 1st, a late fee of $20 will be charged. On-line registration will be closed Thursday, June 6th. On-site registration will take place at the times noted in the “Schedule” below.
Please note that all competitors must check-in at the on-site Registration desk to complete their entry and sign a Waiver and Release of Liability.. An entry is considered complete when all appropriate forms have been completed and accepted by the Regatta Committee.

- 4:00 – 8:00 PM – Registration & Check In.
- 5:30 PM – Welcome Reception (Cocktails/Light Fare).
Saturday, June 8, 2019
- 8:00 – 9:30 AM – Registration, check-in & breakfast.
- 9:30 AM – Competitors’ meeting.
- 10 AM – Harbor Gun.
- 11 AM – Warning Signal, First race of day. Up to four races may be sailed.
- 4:30 PM (approx) – Beer/Soda/Snacks at Haul-out.
- 6:30 PM – Regatta Dinner (included in Entry Fee).
Sunday, June 9, 2019
- 8:00 – 9:30 AM – Breakfast.
- 9:30 AM – Harbor Gun.
- 10:30 AM – Warning Signal, First race of day. Up to three races may be sailed. No race will start after 2:30 PM.
- 3:00 PM (approx) – Beer/Soda/Snacks at Haul-out.
- 4:00 PM (approx) – BBQ Lunch & Awards Presentation.
**Please note that lunches will not be provided. We will provide a hearty breakfast and will have snacks available on the water (power bars, bananas, etc). Box lunches can be procured at a number of local businesses. There will be limited ability to refill water bottles between races from support boats.
SCYC will not provide single use water bottles.
The Sailing Instructions (SI) will be available on the SCYC website no later than five (5) days prior to the event. Paper hardcopies will not be distributed. An official copy of the Sis will be posted on the Regatta Notice Board in the Clubhouse.
Racing will be on the Manahawkin Bay (lower end of Barnegat Bay) in an area generally to the west of the
Courses will be Windward/Leeward or Olympic as described in the Sailing Instructions. Courses may be shortened at the discretion of the Race Committee.
The Low Point Scoring System of RRS Appendix A will apply. A total of seven (7) races are planned. One (1) race is required to constitute a series. If five (5) or more races are completed, competitors may discard their worst score. This modifies RRS A2.
DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY:
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See Rule 4, Decision to Race. The Organizing Authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
Trophies will be awarded to the top five teams (skipper and crew). The Princeton Bowl perpetual trophy will be awarded to the winning team.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUBSEQUENT EVENT:
This is not a qualifying regatta for any future events.

Go through the next light and stay on Barnegat Ave. to 9th Street in Surf City.
Turn left onto 9th Street. Club is at end of street.
